The integration of high-frequency design tools into high-performance VNAs is the way of the future – but today it is only available from Anritsu and AWR.
The VectorStar™ family is Anritsu’s Premium VNA series, providing the highest overall performance on a modern platform. The MS4640B VectorStar VNA offers the widest coverage from 70 kHz to 70 GHz in a single device. The additional twenty years at the low end is even more impressive than the guaranteed 70 GHz coverage at the high end.
IMDView™
Provides active menu sidebar with real-time measurement display when changing critical IMD parameters. The built-in combiner option offers single connection testing of active instruments to automatically switch between S parameter and IMD measurements without the need to reconnect the DUT.
PulseView™
When combined with the innovative IF digitization option, it delivers industry-leading 2.5 ns pulse resolution and 100 dB dynamic range without compromise or trade-offs due to changing duty cycles. PulseView provides real-time display of pulse measurements while dynamically changing pulse parameters for instant design verification.
DifferentialView™
When combined with the dual internal source option, it offers real-time display analysis of differential devices, drives and components while actively changing the phase and magnitude relationships of the internal dual sources.
Spectrum Analyzer Option
The spectrum analyzer option is the world’s first single-scan spectrum analyzer covering frequency ranges from 70KHz to 220GHz using mm-wave modules. The spectrum analyzer option is available on all baseband VectorStar models.
The Spectrum Analyzer option (Option 49) allows convenient spectral domain measurements of quantities such as harmonics, spurs, distortion products and the overall frequency content of various devices. Common measurements include harmonics, tone-based distortion measurements, some spurious measurements, and spectral occupancy tests on devices that may contain multiple outputs or input-output comparisons.
The noise figure option is based on the cold source technique for improved noise figure measurement accuracy. VectorStar is the only VNA platform capable of measuring noise figure from 70 kHz to 125 GHz and is available with a noise receiver optimized for measurements from 30 GHz to 125 GHz. VectorStar is also the only VNA to offer a Differential Noise Figure option to characterize the noise figure of differential devices.
For broadband applications, the ME7838 Series offers superior performance and coverage over a range from 70 kHz to 110 GHz, 125 GHz and 145 GHz in a single coaxial test port. The Non-Linear Transmission Line mmWave module developed by Anritsu is compact while providing high performance up to 145 GHz.

Spectrum Analyzer Option
- SPA is available from 70KHz up to 20/40/70/110/110/125/145/145 and 220GHz. It is also available for banded configuration up to 1.1THz.
- Dual SPA mode is available: Suitable for Mixers/Amplifier/Harmonics/Fake tests.
- SPA is available on all ports. The user can define which port will be used as SPA port.
- Various detection types are available in classic mode: Peak, Minimum, RMS, Average.
- Various math functions such as min hold / max hold / user defined equations can be applied in SPA mode.
- Sources and receivers can be configured independently. Can be used as a Tracking Generator.
- A dual drive option is available for units with dual sources. Support for external source control is also possible.
- Phase synchronization is available for dual source units. This feature allows users to control and configure the phase between the two sources.
- The source and receiver attenuator available with the VNA can be activated in SPA mode. Option 62 (with attenuator on the receiver side) is recommended for measuring the spectrum content of high power devices.
- Software option: easy to install and upgrade existing user equipment.
